Aston Clinton 1 v Totternhoe First Team 2

Totternhoe travelled away to Aston Clinton knowing that it would be a tough game but also that three points was the minimum requirement. The game was played in treacherous conditions, wind and rain, but that didn’t stop both teams getting the ball down and trying to play football. Aston Clinton took a 1 goal lead when a fantastic cross was headed home by the Aston Clinton player manager. Totternhoe started to control the game through the midfield trio of Millard, Morrissey and Sinclair and were having a lot of joy on the right hand side of midfield through the ever willing Miller and Stephenson and when Miller broke away and crossed for the returning Stefan Tracey to dispatch a left footed shot into the bottom corner after 25 mins to get Totternhoe back on level terms. Totternhoe by now were in total control with Tracey, Miller and Clarke causing the Aston Clinton rear guard no end of problems and duely took the lead just before half time when Tracey scored his second of the game. Totternhoe went in 2-1 up at the break and should have extended their lead after the break when Clarke smashed a shot at the crossbar with¬† only the keeper to beat. The result was just what Totternhoe needed and their rear guard defence of Burgess, Rimmer, Lauder and Stephenson and Bowley in goal, they looked very assured.
